UN scheduled return of medview flight in Lagos.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737, with Registration No 5NBPB, took off at 9:12am, landed safely at 9.17am with no casualty.

A statement by the Coordinating Spokesperson of Aviation Parastatals, Yakubu Dati, said “the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and the Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau have already commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the air return”.

Dati added in the statement that “we call on the general public, especially aviation stakeholders, to resist the urge to sensationalise an incident that is already under control.

“We remain committed to a safe and secure aviation sector.”

Meanwhile, the airline has attributed the cause of the return to a false alarm. According to a statement by the airline, smoke was noticed in the cabin which triggered the alarm and the pilot in the display of professionalism, made an air return immediately.

Medview also added that the aircraft, now parked at the Murtala Mohammed Airport II, just returned from a major check some three weeks ago.
